We specialise in
contact lenses, which are a large part of our business. We
have the experience to advise you on all types, and with the
large range of lenses available now many more people can enjoy
the freedom of contact lenses than ever before. Contact lenses
can be used occasionally for weekend use, special events and
for sports or they can be used continuously for a month at
a time with our Night & Day contact lenses. Modern lenses
are now more affordable and comfortable and allow greater
oxygen transfer to the eye so they are also healthier than
previous lenses.
But I have an Astigmatism -
We also supply and fit toric lenses, which enable people with
astigmatism (an irregular shaped eye) to wear lenses, and
the materials are thinner and more comfortable than before.
They are available in permanent or disposable lenses with
or without coloured tints.
I'm interested but I'm not sure if contact lenses are for
me - Just ask during your consultation
if contact lenses are an option for you. We can discuss your
options and explain why contact lenses may or may not be an
alternative or a useful addition for you vision correction.Your
first full eye consultation is covered by medicare more subsequent
consultations for contact lenses are charged a fitting fee
and detailed use and cleaning techniques are discussed. Trial
lenses are supplied for fitting with no cost to you until
it is determined the correct lenses for you. You can take
them home and experience just how easy and comfortable they
can be. If you decide that they are not for you, there is
no charge. If you decide to use contact lenses as your primary
eye correction method we strongly urge you to have regular
6–12 monthly eye examinations. If there are any problems
in between your contact lens checkups we also advise you to
come in for a consultation.
I've worn lenses for years,
I don't need check ups, my eyes feel fine
- Your eye health is very important, examinations can pick
up problems early before you even experience symptoms. Because
contact lenses are so easy to wear the major risk for long
term contact lens wearers is complacency. With continual wear
many people do develop habits such as taking short cuts in
their cleaning routine. Incorrect cleaning and handling and
storage, use of old lenses or ignoring symptoms of problems
can lead to serious damage to your eye. Regular check ups
can uncover potential problems before they arise and monitor
the health of your eyes.
What are the different lenses
available to me?
Soft lenses
A very comfortable style of lens that can be permanent (last
for between 1-2 years), daily disposable, fortnightly disposable,
or monthly disposable. These lenses are very comfortable and
easy to adjust to and available to meet a range of requirements
including astigmatism and bifocal lenses. A wide range of
colours are available for special occasions or daily use.
Continuous
Wear
These are known as the Night and Day lenses, a new
generation of contact lenses that’s material allows
greater oxygen transfer to your eyes. These can be used as
traditional soft lenses (they can be taken out and cleaned
each day) for people wanting the comfort of soft lenses but
requiring greater oxygen to their eye or for many people they
can be left in for up to one month. This can be a very useful
option for people considering laser surgery - these lenses
give you virtually the same freedom and much less cost.
Gas
Permeable
Gas
Permeable Lenses or Hard Contact Lenses may be required for
some clients with a lot of astigmatism or those requiring
a long lasting lens with good oxygen transfer to the eyes.
Keratoconus
Special
lenses can be fitted for people with this eye condition. We
have a great deal of experience in assisting and monitoring
this condition and liase closely with your specialist in providing
you with as much quality care as possible to reduce progress
and complications of this condition.
We
are here to advise you
- Once you have decided to use contact lenses you are not
on your own. We will thoroughly go through the handling, cleaning
and storage of your lenses and are available to discuss with
you any concerns you may have regarding your eyes and your
lenses.
