Vision is one of our primary sensory tools, looking after our eyes is as important as taking care of our overall general health.

Regular eye examinations may detect visual changes and other health problems at an early stage. Some changes can be detected before you even notice any symptoms and therefore we recommend eye tests every 24 months even if no symptoms are evident and more frequently if there is a family history of eye disease or if you are experiencing visual problems.

Regular eye examinations may detect visual changes and other health problems at an early stage. Some changes can be detected before you even notice any symptoms and therefore we recommend eye tests every 24 months even if no symptoms are evident and more frequently if there is a family history of eye disease or if you are experiencing visual problems.A comprehensive eye consultation is Bulk Billed under Medicare and takes between 20 to 30 minutes. We also do screen based equipment tests, which take approximately 10 minutes for people regularly using computer equipment for their work.

Your eyes will be examined by a fully qualified Optometrist who has many years experience in this field.

The first part of the initial consultation the Optometrist will discuss any symptoms you may be experiencing, your health history, medications and family history and any other relevant information relating to your eyes.

An uncorrected vision test will be done to determine your present level of vision. Then a refraction is done to determine your prescription.Next your eyes will be examined. This procedure is painless and is no cause for concern. The Optometrist will look at your eyes through an opthalmoscope which is just like a torch that they will shine through your pupils to see into your eyes. By looking into your eyes in such a way they will be able to assess the general health of your eyes and determine any underlying health problems. Further tests are done to test eye pressures, visual fields, colour vision and more depending on what is required.

Once your prescription is determined we will discuss options for correction to any visual problems you may be experiencing this may include eye exercises, spectacles, contact lenses. In some cases follow up tests may be done or referral to opthalmic surgeons may be made for further investigation of certain conditions
