We
will discuss your options in lenses, again it’s based
on your particular needs and technology is constantly providing
new innovations in lenses and lens coatings.
As independent optometrists
we are able to select the best lenses from any manufacturer.
This translates as a wider choice for you so we can match your
preferences, lifestyle and budget.
We will discuss your needs and your best options, without obligation.
It is a private practice and our staff receive no commissions
for upselling - you can be assured that what we suggest for
you will be based on your needs not ours.
scratch
resistance
Most lenses we recommend are plastic lenses, they are not only
safer and less likely to break but they are lightweight and
more comfortable to wear. Plastic lenses are however softer
than glass so coatings are used to give them greater durability
anti-reflective
Many people require their glasses for use at the computer
and for driving. The anti reflective coating cuts down reflections
making them more comfortable to wear and cosmetically less obvious
than traditional lenses. They do require regular cleaning (with
an anti static cloth) to maintain their invisible quality.
Teflon
coatings are an optional coating for anti reflective lenses
and may reduce the frequency of cleaning for some people if
this is a problem.
tints
& UV filters
Australia's climate and the lifestyle of Australians
usually make us vulnerable to over exposure to harmful ultra
violet rays. Tints and UV filters can be included when you order
your lenses to provide you with greater protection from UV and
glare.
transition
lenses
For people who like to have a pair of glasses that adapt
to their needs, transition lenses can be just the answer. Much
improved from the original transition lenses most of us remember,
these lenses activate much faster and are darker outdoors, and
become virtually clear in a matter of minutes indoors. They
also have less residual tint than former generations of transition
lenses and can have an antireflective coating so you can still
enjoy the benefits of almost transparent non-reflective lenses
inside.
light weight lenses
Thick ‘bottle’ lenses can be a thing of the
past even with the high prescriptions. Hi Index materials make
the lenses much thinner, we can provide you with the thinnest
lenses available. This means you can also have a greater choice
in frames, less restricted by fitting thicker lenses. We can
be your eyes while you choose your frame as we listen carefully
to your preferences and offer honest and experienced advise
on what styles suite your personal style and appearance. To
further assist your frame selection process we can in many cases
fit disposable contact lenses so you can see how these frames
look on you.
multifocal
Progressive lenses graduate from distance prescription
at the top through intermediate (computer) correction to near
vision correction at the bottom. These lenses have also improved
over the years and there are many different styles of multifocals,
no longer are you limited to enormous frames to fit these lenses
into. We recommend that new multifocal wearers give themselves
a few weeks to adjust to a different style of lens, this is
variable, some people experience no problems. Once the wearer
has made the initial adjustment to this style of lens they rarely
go back to single vision lenses. If for whatever reason you
do not adapt easily to these lenses we have a 3 month exchange
policy and can exchange your lenses for a different style of
lense(s) to better suit you.
bifocals
If you need correction to your far and near and possibly
even intermediate vision you may end up with more than one pair
of glasses. For some people this just isn't an option and they
prefer the convenience of one pair to meet all their needs.
Bifocal lenses provide distance and near vision correction and
come in various styles depending on your needs.
safety
lenses
If your lifestyle requires your glasses have the dual
purpose of providing you with eye protection we can supply you
with a polycarbonate lens that is practically unbreakable.
